FAQs

The NZ Nail Tech Summit 6 Week Challenge is a social media challenge for nail techs who want to build skills, create content, connect with other nail techs, and grow their confidence.

It runs from 29 June to 9 August through the NZ Nail Tech Summit social media pages.

Each week, teams complete challenges for points. Some challenges are creative, some are educational, some are quick and easy, and some are designed to help you get more visible online or connect with your local community.

It is open to nail techs from any training background, any product brand, any region, and any skill level.

This is not about being the “best” nail tech. It is about joining in, giving things a go, building momentum, and being part of the Competition Free Zone.

You join in a team of 3.

Each day of the week has a theme:

Monday: Colour of the Week
Tuesday: Community
Wednesday: Comps
Thursday: Education
Friday: Trends
Saturday: Easy
Sunday: Salon

Each theme has different challenges attached to it. Your team can choose which challenges to complete, post your entries (clear instructions will be given), and earn points along the way.

Some challenges might involve creating nail art, swatching colours, making reels, posting educational content, supporting local businesses, commenting on industry posts, sharing salon photos, or trying something new.

You do not have to do every single challenge. The aim is to participate in a way that works for you, your team, your schedule, and your current skill level.

Anyone who is a nail tech can join.

  • You do not need to have been to Summit before.
  • You do not need to have trained with a specific school.
  • You do not need to be advanced.
  • You do not need to have a big following.
  • You do not need to be confident on social media already.

If you are a nail tech and you want to build confidence, create content, make connections, and have some fun, you are welcome.

Each team must have 3 people.

Every team must include:

✨ at least 1 person who has been a nail tech for less than 18 months
✨ at least 1 person who has never been to Summit before

This can be the same person, or two different people.

We have included this rule because we want newer techs and people who have not been part of Summit before to feel included, supported, and welcomed into the community.

If we run out of newbies to spread amongst teams, any team of three will still be included. Having a team of 3 advanced techs does not give a team an advantage.

No.

How “good” you are does not matter, because this challenge is not judged purely on skill level.

Some challenges are skill-based, but many are about participation, creativity, content, education, community, consistency, and giving things a go.

You can be brand new, still learning, returning after a break, nervous about posting, or already experienced and wanting a push. There is space for you.

Yes, many of the challenges involve posting on social media, because one of the goals is to help nail techs get more visible and create content that can support their salons.

Some entries may be posts, some may be reels, some may be stories, and some may involve screenshots.

This challenge is a great way to stop overthinking content and start creating with a reason, a prompt, and a team cheering you on.

The challenge has 7 daily themes:

Colour of the Week
Swatches, colour-based nail art, and creative use of the weekly colour.

Community
Connecting with other nail techs, local businesses, and the wider nail industry.

Comps
Fun skill-based challenges and mini competitions.

Education
Educational posts, myth-busting, and helpful content for clients or other techs.

Trends
Trying popular nail trends and turning them into content.

Easy
Quick wins, simple posts, and low-pressure challenges.

Salon
Content that helps show off your salon, your personality, your services, and your business.

Join because it will help you:

  • Build your confidence
  • Create more content
  • Get more visible online
  • Practise your skills
  • Connect with other nail techs
  • Support local businesses
  • Try things you might normally avoid
  • Grow your salon presence
  • Feel part of the nail community
  • Have fun with people who understand your industry

You might come for the points, but you will probably leave with new ideas, new content, new connections, and a big boost of motivation.
